Longer Term Goals: Organize Actions - Action 5c
Strategy Elements>Longer Term Goals>Organize-Goals & Actions>Action 5c

Goal 5: Target Business Recruitment
ACTION 5C : Establish assistance programs
LEAD And TEAM: MDC, Sage, SB, Cm

STARTUP: Year Two
ACTION TYPE: Ongoing Project
RESOURCE CATEGORY: 1, 3, 5, 6, 7

Business recruitment is a highly specialized field. MDC would do well to collaborate with local and regional economic development entities in this effort. Highly targeted recruitment (e.g., a community college or a culinary institute) can be led and managed by MDC. General recruitment should be heavily guided and supported by organizations like Sage and COMPASS.

Once MDC is ready to focus on recruitment, it should organize and facilitate a workshop on this subject. Participants should include major Meridian businesses, realtors, Sage, COMPASS, Idaho Department of Commerce, U.S. Economic Development Administration, and others as deemed appropriate. The object is to educate these potential partners in the many merits of conducting business in Downtown Meridian. In this way, participants will have the capacity to serve as de facto recruiters in their day-to-day activities. It will be important to keep these entities regularly updated on Downtown's progress, resources and activities.
